Fiona BowserSenior Manager of Student Nutrition
Fiona began with FoodShare in March 2005 as a part-time Community Development Animator and moved to full-time status as a Coordinator in September 2005. Fiona was born and raised in Toronto and continues to make her home here in the city. Prior to her work with FoodShare, she worked for 13 years in accounts receivable and another 12 years as a daycare provider. It is the latter position along with care for her family that sparked a greater interest in nutrition. When her own children started school she quickly recognized the need in her community and helped start a student nutrition program to service that need. Her daily observation of the children’s delight in sampling fresh vegetables and fruit further fueled her conviction that all children if given the opportunity would make healthier choices in the foods they consume. As a coordinator with FoodShare she had the opportunity to share her passion and experience with student nutrition program coordinators and volunteers across the city.
Alongside her work in the school, Fiona was a long time volunteer with Scouts Canada and the local hockey association. In 2008 Fiona became a Manager at FoodShare helping to spearhead the rapid expansion of the student nutrition program in Toronto. Moving to Senior Manager in 2010, Fiona continues sharing her passion and expertise by mentoring and supporting her staff through effective, inclusive and respectful leadership.
