Did you know that 1 in every 5 households in Canada are food insecure?

That means they don’t know where next month or even next week’s groceries are coming from. But what is often misunderstood as a problem with food is really a problem with poverty.

Here at FoodShare, we support community-led food initiatives and work alongside communities most affected by poverty and food insecurity — including Black and Indigenous people, people of colour, people with disabilities, and folks living on a low income — as we work towards a Toronto where all people can feed themselves, their loved ones and their communities with dignity and joy. Whether it is coordinating urban farms, supporting local produce markets or facilitating community kitchens, all of our work is about folks accessing food on their own terms.

FoodShare works with Impact Partners like you in Toronto and across Canada to raise funds and awareness of ways to model dignified and joyful access to food locally and address the root causes of food insecurity nationally.

By working together, your team can benefit from:

  • Improved job satisfaction: Boost morale, productivity and retention thanks to staff engagement, sense of purpose and pride in the place they work.
  • Enhanced brand image: Align your company with a positive cause, attracting new customers and driving brand loyalty.
  • Increased visibility: Promote your brand to a new audience through our social media platforms, mailing lists and media coverage.
  • Growing your network: Connect with other businesses, community leaders and stakeholders aligned with our work.

Event sponsorships: We welcome organizations to support FoodShare and the communities we work alongside through corporate sponsorships to enhance our events such as our Annual General Meeting or FoodShare’s program-specific opportunities. Content sponsorships: Would your team be open to sponsoring an episode or a season of the FoodShare podcast, Dignity and Joy? On the podcast, we confront the systems of oppression that impact who has access to food and the land it’s grown on — and who doesn’t. Our host Sheldomar Elliott delves into the connections between food and justice with folks who have their fingers on the pulse, and their hands in the soil. Our approach to fundraising

At FoodShare, we orient our approach to fundraising in justice and equity. As fundraisers, this requires us to have an understanding — and to continue educating ourselves — on the systemic forms of oppression that underpin food insecurity: among them, racism, white supremacy, colonialism, capitalism, ableism, sizeism and patriarchy.
