About FoodShare’s Social Enterprise
Since 1994, our fresh produce social enterprise has supported FoodShare in delivering community food programs across Toronto. Unrestricted revenue earned through our social enterprise funds activities that would not otherwise be priorities from our funders’ perspectives.
By purchasing from FoodShare, you’re joining us in our vision: a Toronto where everyone can feed themselves, their loved ones, and their communities with dignity and joy.
Some other important notes about our social enterprise:
- We source from local farmers in season, including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour growers, and from the Ontario Food Terminal year round.
- We identify unique food gifts and products from local makers to expand their markets.
- We are proud to be a living wage employer, registered with the Ontario Living Wage Network.
- We are registered with Buy Social Canada, as a certified social enterprise.
- The food waste from our social enterprise feeds into FoodShare’s compost program, which is one of Toronto’s largest nonprofit compost programs.
