Russell started with FoodShare in 2014 working with the School Grown program while in high school. After completing his Firefighting Education and Training at Algonquin College he was hired as a volunteer firefighter with the Cramahe Fire Department. Russell’s experience with FoodShare has helped him appreciate both the importance of healthy eating, and the fact that healthy food options are not equally available to all citizens and this is a situation that needs to be rectified. Russell has worked with various branches of FoodShare including in the compost, spent some time in the kitchen, been on the road delivering FoodShare’s emergency Good Food Boxes during the pandemic and fresh produce to schools and churches around Toronto, and in the warehouse packing skids to be delivered.
