The Community Food Growing team is focused on supporting Black, Indigenous, racialized, low income, and newcomer communities across Toronto in leading their own farming and food growing projects through providing training, access to growing space, and access to resources. We work to increase the capacity of grassroots groups to grow their own food in order to advance both (1) community food sovereignty and (2) our work around environmental justice, racial justice, and reconciliation. This program also aims to make more culturally relevant fresh produce available to communities of colour across Toronto that often do not have access to affordable, fresh, cultural staples.
